Securing career launching positions after graduation
is a central priority of any career-oriented student. The Center
for Career Services provides the following to assist students
to identify and successfully pursue positions after graduation:
Access to existing positions
+ Listings online in OrangeLink of positions that employers
seek to fill through campus interviewing or through resume submittals
+ Links to listings on non-SU sites like MonsterTrak,
Collegegrad.com and others
+ An online guide to general postings on the Web
+ Annual career fairs staged on our campus
+ Annual Big East Career Fair in New York City
+ Links to career and job fairs held elsewhere, including online
virtual career fairs
Programming and Advising
+ Workshops on conducting a job search, writing resumes
and letters, interviewing and more
+ Individual assistance with search strategies, resumes, letters,
interviewing, and networking
+ Guidance on using employer databases used to identify targets for inquiries
about post-graduate opportunities
Networking Assistance
+ Access to a 1600-member alumni network, Mentor@SU,
which includes alumni willing to assist with finding and making
the most of permanent positions
+ Alerts to alumni and other events through which connections
might be forged to professionals in many fields.
+ Assistance with understanding the role of professional associations
in networking and listing positions.
