EMPLOYER

Gain Visibility On and Off Campus
In addition to attending a career fair and recruiting at Syracuse University , there are other ways employers can gain visibility on and off our campus. Employers who are most successful recruiting on campus work extensively with the university career offices and participate in a variety of career education events. Some of our creative programming includes opportunities for employers to sponsor the event while providing a valued learning experience for our students. Employers are welcome to start with a:

Strategy Session

Participation in several different recruiting venues allows employers to get in touch with a large and diverse candidate pool.  Discuss “best practices” utilized by successful employers hiring SU students and arrange your strategic plan developed to increase your recruiting efforts. Email Debi Walker or call her at 315 443-9093 to arrange your strategy session and begin to realize your organization's optimal presence on the SU campus.

Internships / Co-op Opportunities
The trend toward turning internships into full-time hires has exploded into a Fall Semester hiring frenzy. Career Services strongly encourages students to explore their options through internships, co-ops and volunteer opportunities. These experiences not only increase students’ awareness of careers, but, allow employers to observe and shape their future employees. Contact Sue Catanesye to post your internship. Employers specifically interested in cooperative education students from Syracuse's College of Engineering and Computer Science should email Karen Davis, or call her at (315) 443-2239, to discuss this program and arrangements for recruiting its students.

The Center for Career Services regularly includes an “internship of the month” in our online career magazine, The Connection, and would be happy to consider your opportunities for inclusion. Email Chuck Reutlinger with details.

Information Sessions/Pre-Interview Meeting / Receptions/Faculty Connections
There are two ways to connect with students: an Information Session held before your interview collection deadline is beneficial to facilitate additional interest in your company and/or the Pre-Interview Meeting is conducted the evening before your on-campus interviews. Information Sessions, Employer Presentations and Receptions may be arranged by contacting Sue Catanesye.
Please note there will be a room fee and catering charges (if ordered).

Consider presenting your company information and hiring needs to career services professionals and faculty members during your visit to campus. To arrange a session, email Sue Catanesye.

Career Related Events
Employers seeking to reach and assist diverse, traditionally underrepresented students are encouraged to attend The Diversity Business Summit (DBS). The occurs in the Fall immediately before the Fall Career Fair. For details regarding DBS, email CCS Director, Mike Cahill .

The Emerging Leaders Reception is an informal reception held at the Goldstein Alumni & Faculty Center for emerging student leaders. The event is an opportunity for students to interact with career services, student affairs professionals and employers. For details, email CCS Director, Mike Cahill .

Resumes Gone Wild/ Interview Blitz Day / Mock Interviews
Meet with students in one-on-one appointments to review resumes and offer career advice by participating in Resumes Gone Wild in the days preceding our career fairs.

Interview Blitz Day allows you participate in the Career Fair and then interview students the following day! Or you may choose to offer SU students the opportunity to gain valuable interview experience by participating in “Mock Interviews”. Email Debi Walker or Sue Catanesye for information

Class Presentations & SU Learning Communities
Some faculty members are open to class presentations given by employers. These sessions must be scheduled well in advance and be related to the instructor’s syllabus. Email Debi Walker for further information.
Learning communities offer opportunities for students to live and learn with other students who share similar interests in an intellectually stimulating environment and an atmosphere of support and inclusiveness. Contact Debi Walker to present to a Learning Community.

Career Panels / Workshops
Employers may wish to highlight their company by participating on industry specific career panels. Students appreciate the opportunity to hear from those currently working in their field of interest. Email Debi Walker for information.

Big East Career Fair and Big East e-Fair
The Big East Career Fair, held prior to the Big East Basketball Tournament Semifinals in March, is held at Madison Square Garden . The event connects employers with students from the 15 colleges and universities in the Big East Consortium. The Big East E-Fair is an entirely Internet based job fair staged in the late spring. Thousands of students and alumni from Big East Colleges and universities are invited to use the e-fair for permanent jobs, summer, co-op, or internship positions. To participate in either or both events, contact Debi Walker .

Sponsorship Opportunities
Many sponsorship opportunities are available for our employers throughout the year. Employers benefit from the promotion of their organizations on our website and public recognition at the events. Doing so contributes to the success of our students. The sponsorship opportunities include Diversity Business Summit, Fall or Spring Career Fair “Employer Directory”, Student Leadership Reception, career fair giveaways or door prizes, Etiquette Dinner, Computer Cluster, underwriting networking events for current students and alumni, support for the “Career Guide” and more. We’re happy to discuss these or other ideas that you may have. Contact Debi Walker or Mike Cahill at 315-443-3616 for information.

Employer Partner Program
The Employer Partner Program recognizes the most prominent recruiters of Syracuse University students. Official status as an Employer Partner is conferred upon organizations whose goals and practices align with the career development mission of Syracuse University, evidenced by consistent participation in organized recruiting activities, support of career educational programming, provision of experiential education opportunities and membership on the Career Services Advisory Board.
As members of the Advisory Board, which meets in the spring and fall semester and participates in a Summer Retreat at SU’s Minnowbrook Conference Center in the Adirondacks, Employer Partners offer guidance and feedback on issues related to placement, assessment, and improvement of recruitment services.
