Critiquing Services

Resume and Cover Letter Critiquing Service

Staff of the Center for Career Services will be happy to review drafts of resumes and cover letters with alumni/ae. There are two options for local alumni/ae with easy access to the center:

Drop-in hours: From 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30, alumni may visit the center, sign in, and review their drafts with an advisor. When possible, alumni should attend a workshop or read sections of this site and/or published materials on resumes and correspondence before dropping in. Resume reviews must be limited to 10-15 minutes due to demand, so come prepared!

Advising appointments: Meetings with an advisor may be scheduled to discuss difficult issues relating to resumes and correspondence by calling 443-3616. Alumni should attend a workshop or read sections of this site and/or published materials on resumes and correspondence before setting such appointments. We suggest sections of our Career Guide, a publication available free from the Center. NOTE: Due to demand for counseling appointments, this option is definitely the least timely of the two.

Alumni/ae who live outside of Syracuse are welcome to explore resume and/or cover letter critiques. Please email Pam Latham, our Client Services Manager, at palatham@syr.edu to discuss what you intend to send, the urgency of your situation, and the means by which we might provide the critique you desire. While we have a commitment to timely, high quality alumni service, we trust that our alumni will understand that last minute requests may not always be accommodated due to main campus demands on our time and resources.
