Resumes for the Internet
Information technology and the Internet have revolutionized the
way employers attract candidates and handle their resumes. It
is critical that students and alumni/ae be aware of these changes,
and write and submit resumes and letters that can be handled effectively.
In fact, job seekers may have a number of different formats of
resumes that will need to be used in different circumstances.
Questions can always be addressed to career consultants at the
Center.
We recommend reading resume-related sections of
our Career Guide, a publication available at the Center,
as well as the following:
Incorporating
the Internet into Your Job Search
From The Riley Guide (officially, Employment Opportunities and
Job Resources on the Internet), recommended for its discussion
of what a job seeker should know before launching into a search
and how to organize an efficient search.
Preparing
Your Resume for the Internet
Also from The Riley Guide, discusses scannable resumes, text only
formats, and much more about resumes for electronic transmittal.
Scannable Resume Fundamentals: How to Write Text Resumes
Guidelines and examples for an important alternate format.
