The Diversity Business Summit (DBS), presented by JPMorgan Chase with support from Morgan Stanley, the Center for Career Services and the Office of Multicultural Affairs, brings students from historically underrepresented groups together with employers seeking to diversify their workforces. DBS assists students with professional development skills while empowering them with the tools and knowledge to succeed in the pursuit of careers and professional goals.

The event will include opportunities to share best practices, the Morgan Stanley student case study competition, an abundance of educational materials, a dinner and keynote address supported by JPMorgan Chase, Dessert Networking Reception and Reverse Career Fair.

Case Study Competition
Comstock Rooms Sheraton Hotel 4:30 pm- 6:00 pm
The case study competition has been one of the key signature events of DBS since its inception in 2001 as an avenue for professional/presentational development. Over the years, this competition has grown to become one of the premier places that students engage employers with solutions to the evolving nature of diversity within the workplace. Each year, student teams of four tackle diversity related career and employment issues with solutions that advance positive interaction in the workplace. The case study competition is an opportunity for students to explore a topic in diversity within the workplace through competitive solutions, innovations and ideas.  Student teams will present to a panel of employers as well as faculty and the best teams will be awarded prizes and many other souvenirs.

Networking Dinner
Regency Ballroom, Sheraton Hotel 6:00- 7:30 pm
This event brings both students and employers together to meet and network while being inspired by a keynote address.  Students can sign up for this event and join employers at dinner tables where they can learn more about employers and explore career/internship opportunities.  The networking dinner is primarily designed to engage students and employers both in conversation and acclimation with each other. Sit down over dinner and discuss issues and opportunities in today's changing marketplace with one of over 30 globally competitive organizations. With employers sponsoring individual tables, students are given a chance to extend the networking experience, learning more about a single organization of their choice.

Space is limited, so act fast!

To sign up for a dinner table at the Fall 2008 Diversity Business Summit, please follow these directions:

1) Sign on to OrangeLink
if you do not have an OrangeLink account please email careers@syr.edu or call 315-443-9093

2) Once signed into Orangelink, please select the events tab on the main screen

3) Once on the events page, select the information sessions tab.  All of the information sessions will be listed, look for the session type labeled Diversity Business Summit Dinner.

4) To look at an individual company, click on that company's Session Start Date/Time. (You cannot click on the employer.) Please pay close attention to:  what majors, level of students, and visa status they are looking for.

5) Once you have found the company you would like to sit with, click the RSVP button at the bottom of that company's page.

6)  You must have a resume uploaded to the system in order for your registration to be accepted.  These resumes will be shared with the employer.

 Select only one employer to sit with, selecting more than one in employer will result in your removal from the event.

  Reverse Career Fair/Networking
Comstock Rooms, Sheraton Hotel 7:30- 8:30 pm
This event brings student organizations to the forefront of DBS by giving them the platform to represent, share and showcase some of their visions/missions to employers. While employers work the room, student representatives can advance some of their organizational goals and objectives as well as membership.  Student organizations are highly encouraged to participate and take advantage of this great opportunity to make vital connections with employers.

Hoping to maximize your organization’s visit to Syracuse University, the Career Services Network has developed The Fall ’08 Diversity Business Summit.  This event is widely promoted on campus, and continually draws large, energized student participants from diverse populations.  We encourage our employers to attend and participate in this signature event that brings Syracuse University’s finest students in all majors and programs.

The SU Diversity Business Summit (DBS) is an interactive event that prepares students from diverse identities to succeed in an increasingly complex global marketplace. As always, this signature event will provide you with ample opportunities to network with students from diverse populations through meaningful events and activities. A keynote speaker and dinner with students highlights this year’s event along side the Morgan Stanley Study Case competition, and a reverse career fair/networking dessert reception.
