Drop-ins at CCS
UNDERGRADUTE STUDENTS
Drop-ins @ CCS
What are drop-ins?
Drop-ins are times set aside each weekday when
career advisors meet with students with quick questions and needs
that can be handled in 10-15 minutes.
When do drop-in hours occur?
From 12 pm to 2:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday, and from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Wednesdays. Special
additional hours are usually added to the schedule during the
week before Fall and Spring Career Fairs. Students should check
with the center to confirm these additional times.
Do students need to make appointments?
No. They just need to sign in on the clip board
on the reception counter, being sure to check the column that
designates drop-ins from those with longer appointments. This
is generally a first come, first served system, the only exception
being that our trained Career Advocates exclusively assist undergraduates.
With whom will students meet?
Students will meet with career advisors and Career
Advocates who have been assigned to cover that day's drop-ins.
Advisors generally cover the same blocks of time each week.
What can usually be covered in a drop-in
interaction?
Resume and cover letter critiques
Introductions to the services of the center
Quick questions about career or employer research
What should be reserved for a longer,
pre-arranged appointment?
Coaching sessions on interviewing skills and overall
job or internship search strategies
Reviews of personal statements for grad school applications
Discussions on choosing or changing a career path or a major
Explorations related to self assessment and the testing offered
at CCS
Mock Interviews
