Readmit Questions:

How do I go about reapplying (readmitting) to SU?
A student can call the Dean of Students Office or come to 306 Steele Hall to obtain the readmit
form where a counselor will help them understand what they need to do. Students do not need to reapply for
admission to the University.

How does the process of readmitting work?
For a student to be admitted, his/her home school or college needs to approve the
readmission, with or without stipulations noted on the form. Once the college or
school has approved the student to be academically readmitted, the Dean of Students staff check
the service indicators for financial, judicial, medical, immunizations, and international holds.
There may be other holds as well but these are the primary ones. After the student is cleared
in all service indicators, the Dean of Students staff signs the official form and the top copy is taken to the
staff Registrar Office for inputting in to the system.

How long does the readmit process take?
There are some students who walk through the process in minutes ifstaff is immediately
available in the school/college and Dean of Students Office. If there are holds, the process could take
longer depending on when the student clears their hold(s).

How do I get a hold released?
The student can contact the “hold” area and determine the process for release
of the hold. For a financial hold, the student either pays the amount owed or works out an
appropriate arrangement with the necessary financial party. If there is a medical hold, the
student needs to follow the necessary process for the specific type of medical hold.
Immunization holds require the student either provide immunization
documentation to Health Services or the necessary paperwork explaining why he/she will
refrain from specific immunizations.

Where is my readmit now?
There is a log in the Dean of Students Office which indicates if we have received the readmit, the date of
receipt, and the date we sent it to the home school/college. We also have the
original readmits until the student’s readmit is processed. These are filed
according to the type of hold. Students can check in with the Dean of Students Office for updated information.
