Our Staff
Being in the cast is open only to first-year and transfer non-drama students, but our staff is open to everybody!
We have a large, diverse staff spanning most of the different colleges at Syracuse. Take a minute to meet our executive board.
Producers
Chris Cory
Chris Cory is a senior public relations major with theater
and psychology minors. Chris has been involved with FYP since his freshman year when he
played "Ching" in Anything Goes. The past two years he has been assistant director
for West Side Story and Fame!. Also on campus, Chris is the vice-president
and co-director of Cabaret Performance Troupe and can been seen on the OTN series,
First Year. In fall 2007, Chris studied abroad in London and interned with Chuff
Media, a music publicity firm in England. Chris is looking forward to another awesome
year with this great organization.
Sammy Kanter
Sammy Kanter is a senior newspaper major with minors in
theatre and psychology. After his one line "where?" in FYP's production of Anything Goes
as a freshman, he rose in the ranks to be an assistant producer for West Side Story and
was the co-producer for Fame! last year. At SU, he is the music director of Oy Cappella,
sits on the Pulse Advisory board, and interns at the Syracuse Post-Standard. In his
hometown of Cincinnati(WHO DEY!), he is the founder and Producing Artistic Director of a
theatre company, Transit Five Productions. FYP is the best thing that has happened to him
at this university.
Director
Caitlin Guthoff
After spending this summer as a professional vagabond
in various locations around the world (Spain, Paris, Hawaii, and New Jersey to name just a few),
Caitlin Guthoff is ecstatic to be director of FYP this year. Hailing from the beautiful
Hudson Valley (Hopewell Jct., NY to be exact), Caitlin is currently a junior TRF major at Syracuse.
Caitlin joined FYP in her freshman year by playing Francesca in its 2007 production of West Side
Story. This past year Caitlin was the make-up designer for Fame! and hopes everyone
realizes that the show was a success due only to the massive amounts of hairspray and blue eye
shadow used backstage. Caitlin is also obsessed with several things such as biscotti, drunken
goggles, peacocks, and nature.
Choreography
Christine Meglino
Christine Meglino is a senior Television Radio and Film major with two
minors in theater and CRS. Her journey with FYP began three years ago when she took on the role of
everyone’s favorite promiscuous tap-dancing angel, Virtue. She was the assistant producer for West
Side Story in 2007 and the assistant choreographer for Fame in 2008. On campus this Disney crazed
kid is a member of Cabaret Performance Troupe and Danceworks. She choreographs, sings, and does a
fierce free-boogie with The Mandarins, a female a cappella group on campus. When surfing channels
late at night you may come across a show on OTN titled First Year, in which Christine takes on the
role of the rather “loopy” character Rachel. She spent this past summer interning with Nick Jr,
working with their hit show The Backyardigans. Christine is very excited and honored to spend her
last year at Syracuse choreographing for FYP.
Music
Mikey Debach
Mikey Debach is a senior Television, Radio and Film major in the Newhouse School,
and is actively involved with the staff of First Year Players as this year’s music director. Mikey was also
a cast member in the Spring 2006 production of Anything Goes in which he played a "deliciously comedic"
Evelyn Oakleigh. Outside of his Newhouse requirements, Michael stays busy with a Drama minor, the all-male a
cappella group Orange Appeal, sketch comedy group Penguins Without Pants, as well as his many piano accompaniment
jobs with students and organizations both on and off-campus. He’s totes STOKED to be a part of this year’s E-board,
and looks forward to another amazingly successful year with First Year Players.
Art
Alex Rabinowitz
Alex Rabinowitz is excited to be back with FYP as Art Director for this
year’s upcoming production. Previously he directed Fame, made a documentary for West Side Story,
and wore a Chef’s hat in Anything Goes. Alex is a senior film major in VPA and PR chair for
all-male a cappella group Orange Appeal (http://www.orangeappeal.net). Saddened by the fact that
this is his last year, Alex is grateful to everyone that has been there along the ride. FYP wouldn’t be
nearly as intense without him.
Assistant Producers
Hannah Globus
Hannah Globus is a Sophmore Television Radio and Film Major with a
theater minor here at this wonderfully cold place we call Syracuse University. She is very excited
to be working on staff with FYP after being the crazy punk drummer Lambchops in the 2008 production
of Fame! After spending the summer interning at a Shakespeare Company in California, Hannah
is looking forward to getting back to her musical side with FYP. FYP is the best thing on campus
and everyone should definitely come check it out!
Kevin Hirst
Kevin Hirst is FYecstatic to be an Assistant Producer for FYP!
Kevin is a sophomore Television, Radio, and Film major in Newhouse and a Marketing major in Whitman.
He’s also pursuing a minor in Theater. His love of theater began when he played a Mouse/Child at age
six in a production of The Pied Piper. Since then, he has performed in over 40 theatrical productions
in his hometown of Erie, PA. Most recently, he portrayed Logan Schwartz (aka Ensemble member) in FYP’s
2008 production of Fame! with his memorable solo line: “LIPS, DAMIT, LIPS!” When he’s not acting as an
understudy to the Producers, Kevin is a Resident Advisor for the Whitman Learning Community, the
Co-Director of Campus Relations for the OrangeSeeds Leadership program, a brother in Delta Sigma Pi,
a Newhouse Ambassador, a Whitman Peer Facilitator, and sits on the Pulse Advisory Board.
Finance
Kristin Busa
Kristin Busa is a senior aerospace engineering major from the
magical town of Guilderland, NY. Having a slight obsession with student organizations, she’s
excited to be this year’s financial director of FYP, president of Sigma Gamma Tau (the
aerospace engineering honor society), and involved in the American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics, Tau Beta Pi, U100, and DanceWorks. Having debuted as Purity, one of
Reno’s tap-dancing angels, in FYP’s production of Anything Goes, she went on to become
the photographer/scrapbooker for West Side Story and an assistant choreographer of Fame!
Public Relations
Christine Miller
Christine Miller is a senior Public Relations major
with a minor in Psychology. She has been involved in FYP since
her freshman year: in the ensemble for Anything Goes, as the
Assistant PR Director for West Side Story, and as the PR Director for
last year's Fame!. Last fall, Christine studied on the French Riviera in Cannes, and
in anticipation of her pending graduation, she will be interning in Crouse
Hospital's communications department this fall. Her hobbies include reading Harry Potter
books, visiting Disney World, and attempting to solve the DO's daily crossword puzzle.
Christine is looking forward to another great year with the some of the best friends
she's ever had.
Stage Management
Sara Nicolodi
Sara Nicolodi is back for her senior year at Syracuse University. This
is her 3rd year working with FYP; Sara was the stage manager for FYP's FAME and assistant stage
manager for FYP's West Side Story. Sara is an English and Textual Studies/Secondary Education
major and will be student teaching this fall for her degree. Sara likes starry nights, long walks on
the beach, and of course, rehearsal reports.
