SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
We would like to announce that The Graduate Student Organization of Syracuse University will be moving from Student Affairs to the Graduate School as of July 1, 2007. Both the GSO and leaders within the central administration agree that by combining all of the individual energies working on behalf of graduate students, we can provide even more new programs and support initiatives on behalf of our constituents. We seek to enhance our level of services and initiatives through a synergy of resources and ideas between students, policy makers, administrators, academic deans, and faculty. Over the next several weeks we will be in the process of moving our office out of the Schine Student Center and into Bowne Hall, the administrative center of graduate education on campus. Once there, the GSO will be advised by the Associate Dean of the Graduate School, Stacey Lane Tice.
If your organization currently has funds allocated to it by the GSO, those funds will be rolled over after the move and will remain undisturbed and at your continuing disposal. All of our relationships with campus-wide service providers, such as the Inn Complete, Student Legal Services, Drumlins, Bernice Wright, and the Early Education and Child Care Center, will likewise remain intact. As we work to implement this transition, we welcome your suggestions about new initiatives for the upcoming year and hope to see all of you on May 5th at the Inn Complete for our annual picnic.
Special thanks are in order to the Dean of the Graduate School, Ben Ware; Dean of Student Affairs, Barry Wells; the Vice Chancellor and Provost, Eric Spina; the Dean of Students, Anastasia Urtz; and all of those Senators and administrators who made this new and exciting model for graduate student governance possible. We hope this model will not only increase efficiencies within the University but that it will also serve as an example of best practices among our peers. Above all, we work for you, and will continue to put forth our best efforts to improve the lives of those we serve.

HOUSING SURVEY - This survey has been closed.
The GSO has created a survey for graduate students about graduate student housing. The university is interested in learning more about graduate student
housing. To ensure that the voices of graduate students are heard, we
ask that you take about 15-20 minutes to answer these survey questions.
The survey responses will be reported anonymously, such that
participants cannot be identified with their responses. Upon clicking
submit, you will be directed to a new screen where you can submit your
contact information to be entered into the random drawing for an 80GB
video Ipod. This contact information will not be used for any purpose
other than the drawing for the Ipod. The winner will be notified on or
about March 1, 2007. Only one entry per graduate student will be
accepted for the drawing.
Please go to the survey and let us know what issues are important to you.
The GSO would like to thank all those who participated in the Graduate Student Housing Survey. We would like to congratulate Barbara Arcuri, who was the winner of the 80G iPod drawing.
