Student Handbook

I am delighted to see the newest members of the Syracuse University community join our extended family of students, faculty, staff, and alumni; and to welcome back those of you who are returning to continue your studies.

The Division of Student Affairs wants your transition to be as successful as possible, and hopes that you will find this Student Handbook a useful companion to your journey through Syracuse University. In Syracuse University's vision for Scholarship in Action, you and your fellow students have many opportunities to benefit from and strive for excellence; have access and support needed to overcome obstacles and enjoy successful experiences inside and outside the classroom; and engage with the world of Syracuse and beyond. This handbook is designed to introduce you to some of these opportunities and to serve as a guidepost to your travels through the educational experience.

I hope this academic year will be a good one for every student in our community. You will have the chance to explore rich intellectual opportunities, participate in a wide variety of campus events, find community in your residence hall (or neighborhood), collaborate or lead as a member of a recognized student organization, improve your physical well-being as a member of a sports team or in one of our recreation facilities, and become an active citizen in our community. All of these offer the opportunity to work together with fellow students--and I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities and resources that suit you.

With shared excitement for the year to come,

Thomas V. Wolfe
Interim Senior Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs
