Health Insurance

Syracuse University strongly recommends that students have health insurance coverage. Many group health plans do not cover a dependent once he or she has reached a specific age, married, or declared financial independence, or provide coverage when the student is away from home. If you do not have a health insurance plan, or are not adequately covered, the University offers a student health insurance plan that may meet your needs. SUHS provides direct third party billing to the following insurance companies: Aetna Student Health, SU Blue Point , SU Orange Point, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Blue Card and SU HTH Worldwide. Pharmacy charges can be billed to a wider range of insurances; check with the pharmacy at 315-443-5691 to see if your insurance is one of them.

*You may receive an itemized statement from the SUHS cashier to submit to your insurance company.

• Always carry your insurance card.
• Understand what is covered and not covered under your policy.
• Check with the policy holder or insurance company if you have specific questions about your coverage.
• Know what restrictions or limitations are included in your health insurance plan.
