Laboratory The Syracuse University Health Services Laboratory is open Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM during the academic year. Summer hours are 9:00 AM -4:30 PM Monday-Friday. It is closed on weekends. The laboratory is staffed by a laboratory supervisor and two other laboratory professionals. All are licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologists by the New York State Department of Education. The lab is licensed and accredited by the New York State Department of Health. The laboratory director is a board certified pathologist. The laboratory accepts test orders for a student by Syracuse University Health Service medical staff and also a written lab test order or by fax (315-443-9010) from a student’s own medical provider. Laboratory work is done on a walk-in basis. Appointments are required for some. Call 315-443-9027 to schedule an appointment. Laboratory fees are separate charges from the health fee. Laboratory procedures are provided at a reasonable cost. A list of lab fees is available on site. Full time students who have paid the health fee are eligible for one free confidential HIV test per year, following an appointment with a Health Services provider or counselor. Inquire with the laboratory for specific details. Charges will be submitted to College Blue, SU Blue Point , SU Orange Point, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Blue Card and SU HTH. Charges not paid by insurance are billed to the student’s bursar account or may be paid at the time of service. Students may obtain an itemized statement from medical records.
