Travel Services The staff of Syracuse University Health Services is well prepared to address your questions about health concerns when traveling abroad and can coordinate the provision of whatever immunizations or medications needed to travel safely. Individual consultations with a Health Services Registered Nurse are available to determine recommended vaccines, to discuss general travel health issues and to receive vaccines. The student is charged for the specific immunizations or drugs required. Please note that the Syracuse University Health Fee does not cover travel immunization costs. A travel health visit to assess the need for various immunizations and medications should occur at least eight weeks prior to your departure. Recommendations for vaccines and/or medications will vary from person to person according to pre-existing health conditions, previous travel history, and specific travel plans. As soon as your itinerary is certain, call 315-443-9028 during regular business hours to schedule an appointment. You will be asked to provide a reference or documentation that your travel plans meet the criteria for Health Services use. You are strongly advised to fully explore all of the resources concerning traveler health provided by the Centers for Disease Control and the Travel Warnings and Consular Information Sheets from the U.S. State Department. These Web sites provide health information for international travel and discuss general recommendations for different geographic areas of the world and a summary of current disease outbreaks. If you will be scheduling a travel appointment at the Health Service, please review these sites carefully before your appointment. Additional travel health
