05 April 06 - 15:24Elections

On Sunday April 23 at 6:00 pm in the NATAS Office (OGLEL Cubicle "O") we will be holding elections for the following positions:

TREASURER is in charge of creating the budget and keeping tabs on funding for trips, equipment, and speakers. The Treasurer should fill
out any expenditure requests.

RECORDER is in charge of keeping tabs on all current and previous members in the form of a spreadsheet document. The Recorder should be consulted prior to trips to select the most active students to send. The Recorder will have the final decision over who shall attend these trips when disagreement over eligibility arises.

PUBLIC RELATIONS AGENT is in charge of making sure that the organization stays true to its objectives. He or she is responsible for screening videos produced by the organization for material that is not congruent to our objectives.

Note: These are the only positions available on the executive board. Heather Imerman will stay on as President and will select her
successor as President next year.

Officers recieve first priority on all trips, events, and speakers where there is limited space avaialble. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with a student organization and build your resume. At the meeting on the 23rd, students running for a position will be able to make a short speech. Voting will occur immediately following the speeches (majority wins). Good luck!

PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH YOUR NAME, CLASS, AND POSITION YOU WANT TO RUN FOR. POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL STUDENTS AND CLASSES.

12 January 06 - 00:50NY Emmys Trip

Hey Everyone!

Well, it's almost Spring semester, so that means it's time to talk about the NY Emmys Trip. First, a brief explanation of the Emmys: they are designed to award local news in NYC and the event is generally a good chance to network. Now, this year is a bit different. First, Bill Hanauer, our good friend and executive director of the NY Chapter, has left the organization, leaving the previous awards director, Jacqueline Gonzalez, in charge. She has been generous enough to offer volunteer positions to us, but no official word yet on having an actual "table" at the event like in years past.

One major reason why this year is different is because the Emmys are on SUNDAY MARCH 12TH. For those of you without a calendar at hand, this is the first Sunday of our Spring Break. Generally, most students leave for home/Cancun on that Friday, the 10th, if not earlier. We would not get back to the Syracuse-area until Monday the 13th.

I am emailing you today to find out if there are people interested in attending the NY Emmys, which means that we will try to get a hotel on Saturday night and volunteer at the event on Sunday. If there is enough interest, we will try to arrange the trip--but no promises (money and other factors are still up in the air).

If we do not go to the NY Emmys this year, we will try to go next year (2007) and will definitely try and arrange another trip to NYC for some seminars. If you live in the NYC area/could provide your own transportation to the event, let me know and I can inform Jacqueline of your intentions of coming to volunteer.

PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU WANT TO GO. IF THERE IS NO INTEREST, WE WILL CANCEL THE TRIP AND PLAN ANOTHER TRIP TO NYC FOR SOME TIME IN APRIL.

Hope everyone had a great break!

Ryan

12 November 05 - 15:43One Click Grocery Video

Hello everyone:

For those that don't know me, my name is J.T. Compeau, one of the programming chairs for NATAS. For this video project, we're going to try something a little different. This is our first time producing a video for another organization, and we have the interest of a local internet business here in Syracuse, oneclickgrocery.com. Actually, this will be the first of two videos we produce for the site (the second of which will be a sort of human interest piece that we will try to air on OTN sometime in the near future). However, the first will be a short (no more than 1.5-2 minutes MAXIMUM), instructional video on how to use this awesome service. You can check it out (or perhaps even order some groceries!) at www.oneclickgrocery.com.

So, as usual, I will need a crew of people to help out with this: an editor, a couple of videographers, and a person to help with the microphone/sound. After I gather enough people to produce this, I would like to have a meeting to discuss the content, as there are specific things we must cover/say within the video.

Sorry for the length of this email - please email me back if you are interested in helping out with this project. You will be the first members to help NATAS enter a new chapter in its history! Thanks everyone!

J.T.
