Diversity Statement

The Office of Residence Life, committed to "Celebrating Diversity" contributes to the mission of Syracuse University by promoting programs and services for students and the larger University community that enhance the quality of life, facilitate ethical, intellectual, and personal growth, and create a culture which engenders respect for human diversity.

As a principle unit of the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Residence Life "recognizes and values the multiplicity of similarities and differences among individuals and groups including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, age, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and physical and mental abilities. To do this, we commit ourselves to being a learning community that places value on diversity throughout the University setting" (Syracuse University Minnowbrook Declaration on Diversity, 2000).
