Resident Advisor (RA) Staff

Kimmel/Marion Halls has a staff of 6 RAs. The Resident Advisor (RA) is a peer advisor and educator who works with residents to assist them in addressing their needs within the residence hall and the university community. The position is challenging because the RA works with students and administrators, learns to articulate rights and responsibilities for both the individual and the University, and balances his or her own pressures of academic and personal responsibilities.

For more information on the Resident Advisor position, contact Kimberly Williams, Coordinator for Staff Selection and Training at knwillia@syr.edu.

Main Desk

The residence hall main desk serves as a business and information center for residents, guests, and staff. It is also a necessary and important link between students, the residence hall, and the University. This link is established when residents check-in at the beginning of the academic year. It continues throughout the year with information, messages, keys, mail, and a variety of other helpful services and information.   The main desk is staffed by Main Desk Assistants (MDA).

For more information on the Main Desk Assistant position, contact Kimberly Williams, Coordinator for Staff Selection and Training at knwillia@syr.edu.

Building Highlights

We are very excited to meet you and get to know you well. We are anxious to learn from you how we can improve Kimmel/Marion. We encourage you to take an active role in the creation of our community this year! There are numerous opportunities for you to be involved, but perhaps the most important charge I have for you this year is this: communicate! Talk with your RA, with me, with each other, with Hall Council. Your needs will be best met when you help us become aware of them. The best way to ensure that this will be a great year for you is to take initiative in sharing your ideas and concerns with us throughout the year and then be willing to become part of the solution. Don't underestimate the influence you can have on your community. The choices are there; make positive and healthy ones that will enhance your experience here in Kimmel/Marion. That is my challenge to you.

We challenge you to become active in our community. Some say knowledge is power; We disagree. Knowledge without action is nothing. Share your knowledge, take positive action with integrity based on your knowledge and values, and you will have positive power.

Building Highlights include: The Kimmel Food Court, the Marion Fitness Center, and the very large Kimmel Main Lounge!
