Shaw Hall
Robert Shaw Hall was built in
1952 and is home to residents
ranging in academic standing
from first-year students to
those in their senior year.
Sixty-one percent of our
residents are first year
students and will have unique
opportunities to participate in
a variety of experiences to make
connections both inside and
outside the hall. Shaw hall's
diverse floor layouts are as
unique as each of the residents
that live within it's walls.
Shaw Hall residents enjoy
excellent proximity to academic
buildings, the Quad, a Centro
bus stop, tennis courts and
Archbold Gymnasium.
So
what makes Shaw Hall your home
away from home? For starters,
there is the chance to grab a
snack, check your email and
watch the game on a big screen
television all in the Cyber
Café/Snack bar. Additionally,
the Shaw Dining Center is never
more than an elevator ride away.
With such an array of foods you
are sure to find something you
will like.
Lyons Hall
Lyons Hall
was built in 1971 and is home to
forty residents. The Lyons
residents enjoy close proximity
to Shaw Hall and Westcott Street
which hosts a variety of
cultural sites including
restaurants, shoppes, an art
cinema and other attractions.
What makes Lyons Hall your home
away from home? In addition to
the spacious kitchen, Lyons also boasts a comfortable living
room area with a television and
a pool table, plenty of study
space and a laundry facility.
Shaw Hall is also home to Learning
Communities:

Staffing
The Shaw and Lyons Hall is
supported by a staff of fourteen
resident advisors (RAs) and two
professional staff members. The
Resident Advisor (RA) is a peer
advisor and educator who works
with residents to assist them in
addressing their needs within
the residence hall and the
university community. The
position is challenging because
the RA works with students and
administrators, learns to
articulate rights and
responsibilities for both the
individual and the University,
and balances his or her own
pressures of academic and
personal responsibilities.

Advisor position, contact

Main Desk
The residence hall main desk
serves as a business and
information center for
residents, guests, and staff. It
is also a necessary and
important link between students,
the residence hall, and the
University. This link is
established when residents
check-in at the beginning of the
academic year. It continues
throughout the year with
information, messages, keys,
mail, and a variety of other
helpful services and
information. The main desk is
staffed by Main Desk Assistants
(MDA).
