Club History
In the 2009 - 2010 season SUVBC had a great turn out. Our B team continued showing a high level of play at the D-II level and
placed 3rd in the State Tournament earning them a trip to the East Coast Championships in Maryland for the 2nd straight season. The A team
had a strong showing throughout the season finishing 2nd in the State Tournament only losing by a very narrow margin. SUVBC then went on to
participate in the first ever NCVF Collegiate Volleyball Championships which took place in Louisville, KY housed over 240 teams. SUVBC went
into the tournament ranked 18th over all in DI-AA. On the first day of the tournament SUVBC took the court against Western Michigan and had
an over all great start to the tournament winning easily in 2 sets. SUVBC's second game of pool play did not take the same shape as its first
losing to the University of Santa Clara in 2 straight very tight sets. On the second day of pool play SUVBC rebounded against Big East foe
West Virginia took an emotional 2 set win handing West Virginia their only loss until they later fell in the semi finals. Needing a win
going into its last game of pool play SUVBC could not muster a solid performance and fell for the second year in a row to Iowa State in 2 sets.
With no play in games allowed SUVBC was pushed out of the Gold Bracket and into the Silver in which then face another Big East foe in DePaul
and proceeded to revitalize itself and role to a 2 set win. In the second round game SUVBC ran into Kentucky and was eventually knocked out in
a tough 3 set loss. Although SUVBC's Nationals was not the best its seen in recent years, they performed admirably with a very young team.
Without losing any integral players it would seem that SUVBC will return in 2010-11 with a chip on their shoulder looking to make a deep run.
