Some would like you to believe that Verbal Seduction began as a women's study project due to a lack of what we shall deem artistic voice on the Syracuse campus. Artistic sounds snobby, let us instead say enlightened voices and acute eyes. Yes, much less snobbery with those terms, do you agree?
In order to promote the necessity for art and writing, Verbal Seduction was born. The campus needed an outlet for all of the creativity that was just surging through its student body. When did this occur? Well, once cut open, we were able to count the rings inside Verbal Seduction, and with a little bit of guessing, let's say the Spring of 2003.
All good things must come to an end I'm afraid. Come to an end, then become something greater. The magazine's founders had left and it fell into the laps of two bright-eyed youngsters who saw the magazines as something much larger. Yes, it was an outlet for the arts, but also a way to reach every person on campus who cared enough to pick it up and take a look at something new.
These two hopefuls, beginning in the Spring of 2006 have dedicated more time to transforming Verbal Seduction into a name the Syracuse student body can recognize than they dedicated to the pursuit of their majors. Was this wise? You bet your sweet ass it was.
Excuse me.
Now the magazine continues to grow with each passing semester. New hopefuls join the magazine with the same ideals in mind as well as newer and more exciting ones. As long as their are students who care about reaching people, and as long as people want to find something new, Verbal Seduction will become better each semester and hopefully be around long after we aren't.
