Syracuse University is committed to supporting the academic success of students who join fraternities and sororities. To support student success and readiness, Potential New Members (PNMs) must meet all the following requirements before participating in recruitment or intake:

1) Be a regularly enrolled, full-time undergraduate student in good standing with Syracuse University or SUNY ESF.

2) Have earned at least 12 credit hours at Syracuse University or SUNY ESF.

-Transfer students are eligible to join a fraternity or sorority after earning at least 12 transferable credit hours from another college or university. An official transcript must be submitted at the time of registration via email to greeklife@syr.edu.

-Only undergraduates from Syracuse University or SUNY ESF are permitted to participate in chapters/organizations chartered at Syracuse University. Graduate students are not permitted to join or hold membership in Syracuse University Greek chapters/organizations.

3) Have a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

4) Attend the following three workshops below:

All PNMs must complete the required workshops on or before the first week of recruitment or intake. Participation is tracked and verified with Greek Life. Students who do not complete the following workshops will be asked to pause their new member process until proof of completion is provided:

The New Member Release Form gives permission to Fraternity and Sorority Affairs to release new/active member's eligibility information to a chapter for recruitment/intake purposes, semester grade point average and cumulative grade point average for use in chapter scholarship statistics, awards recognition, and verification of minimum academic standards and requirements.

By completing and signing this form, you are agreeing to release this information to your chapter advisors, inter/national headquarters, the chapter’s governing council, and/or the chapter president and scholarship chair for the duration of your membership in the organization listed above, until you graduate, or until you request in writing to be removed from this release.
